童年经历

出生于一个传教士和牧师家庭。三岁通过铃木教学法钢琴。十二岁开始模仿他最喜欢的艺术家。在他四年级时，他搬到科罗拉多斯普林斯，科罗拉多州，在那里他结识，乐队OneRepublic的队友扎克菲尔金斯。

早期的音乐生涯

他多年来特德担任服务员，也作为一个在Pottery Barn的售货员，在确保在纳什维尔的梦工厂SKG公司实习，打入乐坛唱歌。21岁时，他被超级男孩成员Lance Bass选为singer-songwriter比赛的五名成员之一。他的歌"The Look"获得了最高票并赢得了比赛，但一有记录标签的合同没有完成，没有专辑发行。

音乐创作

众所周知，他被hip-hop制作人兼歌手Timbaland挖掘。在02年到04年，他在给人写歌。并制作出了很多美国英国的打榜歌。他为Leona Lewis写的"Bleeding Love打破了他的"Apologize"的记录。他合作的艺人还有 Monrose, Leona Lewis, Dima Bilan, Alexandra Burke, Backstreet Boys, AJ McLean, Chris Cornell, Ashley Tisdale, Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco, Paula DeAnda, Hilary Duff, Timbaland, Bubba Sparxxx, Shayne Ward, Tupac, Lemar, Esmee Denters, Clay Aiken, tATu, Jennifer Hudson, Menudo, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Whitney Houston, Westlife, Charice, Sugababes, Rihanna, Daughtry, Mario, DJ Tiesto等等。
