《仲夏夜之梦》是莎士比亚年轻时期的一部作品，也是莎翁四大喜剧之一。本剧把背景放在了古希腊的雅典，讲述了一个浪漫轻松的四角恋爱故事。

故事分为三线，也可以说是三段爱情故事。

第一段是结婚许久的仙王奥布朗和仙后蒂泰妮霞闹了别扭，仙王用魔法花汁去捉弄仙后的故事。

第二段是为了庆祝雅典公爵提修斯和希波吕妲的结合，雅典城内举行了盛大的宴会，一群演员正在筹备一出喜剧准备向公爵献礼的故事。

第三段也是这部作品的重头戏——赫米娅、拉山德、狄米特律斯、海伦娜的四角恋情。他们误打误撞被卷入了仙王和仙后的恶作剧中，爱上了不该爱的人，最后又在仙王的努力下，找回了自己的真爱。
